Then repeat twice more: two purl stitches, 6 knit stitches for the cable, followed by two purl stitches. Finish with one edge stitch, so you have knitted exactly 30 stitches plus two edge stitches. Now the cable row can begin. The purl stitches are knitted as usual, and the 6 stitches for the cable are divided. To do this, slip the first three stitches, the front half of the cable, onto a cable needle and place them in front of the work. If the waiting stitches are placed behind the work instead of in front, the cable twists in the other direction. These stitches can rest on the cable needle - or of course on any other needle if you do not have a cable needle at hand. Knit the remaining three stitches as usual. Enough waiting - now knit the three stitches directly from the auxiliary needle. That is the whole trick. Once you have completed your pattern row, normal rows follow - purl stitches are purled and knit stitches are knitted - until the next cable row starts again from the beginning. Make sure you always begin your next cable row on the right side of the knitted piece.

Hand-knitted cables are the perfect pattern to vary individually according to your wishes. Would you like more distance between the cable crossings? Then knit several rows between the cable rows. This lengthens the entire cable. Variations are also possible: alternate the spacing between short and long cables for more individuality and an interesting knitted piece with cables.
