Properly disposing of packaging waste

Dispose of any packaging waste in the designated disposal channels. Only then can the packaging be recycled. More information can be found at Mülltrennung wirkt, an initiative of the dual systems. We take responsibility for packaging that does not fall under the purview of the dual systems.

What are Gründl packages made of?

Here, we differentiate between shipping cartons, DIY boxes, sleeves, films, and a product specialty – our Cotton Quick Mini-Boxes.

Yarn Labels

Our Gründl yarn and wool labels are made of paper. Once you have finished your project and no longer need the information on your label, you can dispose of it in your paper recycling bin with a clear conscience.

Shipping cartons

No matter who holds them, the little "Ü-Tüpfelchen" (tiny dots/extras) on the shipping boxes bring a smile to all our faces. The best part: Our smiling package tape is made of paper. If you're now wondering how it holds the box together? In principle, the tape works like a postage stamp. By moistening it with water, the water-activated tape starts to stick.

Our shipping boxes are also made of cardboard and can be disposed of in paper recycling.

Slides

If you opt for a whole sales unit – usually 5 or 10 balls of yarn – it will often be delivered to you packed in plastic bags. Why plastic bags, of all things? There's a good reason for this: it prevents moisture from getting into the yarns, which also keeps dirt and odors away. You are welcome to reuse these as garbage bags or storage bags; otherwise, the bag belongs in the yellow bin or the yellow sack.

DIY kits

The packaging of our DIY kits is made of pure paper, so it can be disposed of in the paper recycling bin.

What do the waste separation symbols mean?

Triman Logo
If you're wondering why you've never or rarely seen this symbol: The so-called Triman logo must be affixed in France to recyclable products and packaging that typically end up in household waste. This is intended to make it clear at first glance how exactly products can best be disposed of. Products with the Triman logo printed on them should therefore be placed in the recycling or waste paper bin, while products without this logo can simply be disposed of in general waste. By doing so, France aims to encourage end consumers to sort packaging and thus make an important contribution to a more sustainable environment. Since our skeins are also shipped to France, you will therefore find this symbol on our labels.

Waste Paper
You might already be familiar with our Gründl symbol. You'll find it on paper bands or cardboard packaging. It indicates that the material is made of paper and should therefore be disposed of in your paper recycling bin.
