The trend colors for spring/summer 2023

There's brilliant news in the world of color: The Pantone Color Institute has released ten new trend colors for New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2023 – the perfect basis for knitwear and crochet fashion.
The trend colors for spring/summer 2023
“The colors for spring/summer 2023 have been recalibrated for the new era we are entering. We blend escapism with reality, wholeness and joy, and welcome the exploration of extreme contrasts in mood and color,” says Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute. “The colors of this season are grounding and fundamental, while at the same time an uplifting, vital sense of play shines through.”

“A supercharged red tone that signals energetic intensity.”
Admittedly, a bright red belongs in every yarn stash. As we can see here, a rich red tone creates a fantastic mood not only at Christmas time - this spring and summer, too, this red radiates plenty of energy.

“A powerful fuchsia tone that represents the fruits of nature.”
Admittedly, bright pink also belongs in every yarn stash. Whether pink cotton, fuchsia-colored merino wool, or blended yarns in magenta tones - our luminous Gründl yarns can definitely keep up with the expressive power of fruits such as watermelon, raspberry, or dragon fruit. We simply knit our vitamins ourselves with pink wool.

“A zesty, tasty, vitamin-rich orange.”
Imagine biting into a fresh orange - wonderful. You get at least as many happy feelings every time you hold your self-knitted projects made from orange Gründl wool in your hands. They simply burst with cheerfulness and freshness.

“A caring peach tone that invites you into a warm embrace.”
When warming sunbeams shine on your face and birds are chirping all around you, you are probably holding a peach-colored Gründl yarn in your hands. The apricot tone gives you warmth, brings relaxation, and welcomes spring.

“A bright yellow that radiates cheerfulness.”
The color of the sun, serenity, and positivity. A color made for summer. Even while knitting or crocheting with the trend color yellow, your mood brightens. Do you not believe us? Then grab one of the yellow yarns listed below and see this radiant trend color of spring and summer for yourself.

“A clear pink that conveys modern romance.”
What do you associate with a pink tone? Cute little pigs, sweetly scented flowers, or a dreamy sunset that turns cloud after cloud into a pink sky? Whatever you are thinking of right now, a little romance is certainly part of it. What is special about this year’s trend color is that romance meets modernity. We think hand-knitted projects in this clear pink tone will look wonderful. We dream of pink socks, pink tops, or lovely crochet decoration in pink.

“A nourishing green with health-promoting qualities.”
Things are getting juicy here. We associate this classic green tone with freshness and vitality. In this case, green stands for renewal, growth, and freedom. Great qualities for wonderful knitting and crochet projects made from green wool.

“An exotic green with lively character.”
Imagine hopping through a green garden full of fruit trees. You stretch a little and pick a crisp green apple. Lightness, liveliness, and exoticism - that is what defines this light green tone. For DIY projects that lift the mood.

“A striking blue that brightens up the palette.”
For everyone who loves darker blue tones, this Pantone trend color can be combined beautifully and is reminiscent of a great denim shade. We can imagine wonderful socks, elegant sweaters, or knitting projects for children made from it. What will you create from the blue yarns we have listed here?

"A clear shade of blue that expresses relaxation and calm."
Like gentle waves flowing across a lake. Like a fresh breeze moving over the horizon. This trend color makes its sense of relaxation clear right away. So how about bringing that magical calm onto your needles? Simply choose one of the blue yarns listed below. Relaxation is guaranteed - and according to the Pantone trend report, you will be right on trend too. Jackpot.

Alongside the 10 new trend colors, the New York color palette also includes five classics. For the spring/summer 2022 season, the Pantone Institute selected very calm shades that suggest a quiet presence. They work beautifully on their own, but also look wonderful combined with the brighter trend colors. So if you are looking for new colors for your knitting or crochet project, make sure to try your way through the palette. We have listed all Gruendl yarns in the respective classic colors here so you can start choosing colors right away.

"A pure, watery and cleansing aqua."
Like clear water running down a mountain stream or a bright summer sky in the morning - this light blue instantly brings summer feelings and gives every handmade wool project a wonderful lightness. How about a knitted bag? Or would you prefer a crocheted shawl in light blue?

"A soft and deliciously creamy shade."
A light peach ice cream, a perfume wonderfully scented with vanilla, or the smell of sunscreen as we get comfortable on the beach. That is what this beautiful beige shade makes us think of. The warm nuance brings coziness to every knitted or crocheted project. And do not worry: thanks to this timeless beige, your handmade one-of-a-kind pieces are not only up to date in summer - you can wear your DIY knitting projects in winter too.

"A dreamy and ethereal lilac gray."
Simple, timeless and elegant - that is this wonderful shade of gray. Will you combine it with a bright color, or knit a solid gray one-of-a-kind piece? No matter what you knit or crochet from these gray Gruendl yarns in the 2023 trend color, you are sure to attract attention.

"A vegetal green with a subtle flavor."
A warm shade of green that belongs in every wardrobe. Whether olive-colored tops, crocheted bags in olive or knitted shawls in a muted green tone - grab one of the olive Gruendl yarns and knit your fashionable one-of-a-kind piece for summer.
