Handicrafts for a good cause

When Martina Gründl's table fills with yarn, knitting needles, treats, tea or coffee cups and wine glasses, it is more than a sociable craft evening. It is a gathering where warmth, community and willingness to help are at the center. For more than ten years, Martina Gründl has hosted charity knitting evenings during the pre-Christmas season, and every year something beautiful is created again. What began as a small circle has become a fixed tradition, with two to four donation evenings each winter. Women of different ages come together to be creative and do good at the same time. They laugh, knit, snack and donate. The evenings create not only beautiful handmade unique pieces, but also inspiring conversations and new acquaintances, all united by one goal: helping where help is needed.

A charity knitting evening is an event full of warmth. For each evening, we at Gründl select one or more suitable projects in advance and provide the yarns needed. This creates a shared experience in which everyone works on similar or identical models, regardless of their craft level. This year, various models made from Merino Mio were available, or, on request, from our new yarn Dolce Alpaca. The projects are deliberately chosen to appeal both to beginners and experienced knitters. The evenings are accompanied by our knitting designer Martina Kamuf, whose expertise provides confidence, whether with dropped stitches, new techniques or special patterns, so everyone can enjoy the evening in a relaxed way.

The meaning of these evenings goes far beyond cozy hours together. All donations collected through the charity evenings and other Gründl campaigns go 100% to the Soroptimist International Club Ingolstadt, of which Martina Gründl has been a member for many years. The SI Club Ingolstadt is part of a global organization working for better living conditions, educational opportunities and safety for women and girls. The club selects projects carefully with a focus on lasting impact. For several years, it has supported a special education project with great commitment:

Inuka e. V. - education as a path to the future. Since 2011, Inuka has worked to give children and young people in Tanzania access to education. Many families cannot finance school fees, materials or teachers. This is exactly where Inuka helps:

Construction and expansion of the kindergarten

Furnishing group rooms

Financing and training teachers

Providing learning materials

Medical care

Nutrition programs

Sponsorships for children in need

Behind this work is founder and chairwoman Kerstin Cruccu, whose energy for fair educational opportunities is impressive. The donations that SI Club Ingolstadt can pass on, also with the help of the Gründl charity evenings, make a concrete difference. Past donations, for example, helped build a new group room for 20 kindergarten children in Tanzania, a room full of security, learning and future.

Your shared evening can be arranged individually in the way that suits you best. Perhaps you choose a fixed donation amount that also includes material costs. Or you set up a donation box where everyone can give according to their means. In the end, what remains is the wonderful feeling of having been creative together while supporting people who urgently need help. An evening that creates beautiful memories and makes a real difference.
