Welcome to a new video

In this post, we will knit two stitches together. We'll show you how it works and for what and how versatile you can use it.

→ knitting 2 or more stitches together reduces the number of stitches and changes the shape of the knitted piece

→ a good technique for shaping necklines, working decreases on raglan slopes or side slopes

→ also frequently used to knit the upper crown of hats

→ also used in many patterns, e.g. lace patterns, here in combination with yarn overs

Note

→ 3 or more stitches can also be knitted together

→ however, more than 3 stitches are rare, as it is difficult to knit them together at the same time and the decrease also becomes very thick

Step-by-step instructions

Gründl Wolle

→ in the example, 2 stitches are knitted together

→ the two stitches are knitted together at the same time

→ with the right needle, insert from left to right, first into the second stitch and then also into the first stitch

Gründl Wolle

→ catch the yarn and pull it through both stitches at the same time

→ make sure that the yarn goes through both stitches (otherwise one will be lost)

→ let the two stitches slide off the left needle; there is now only 1 stitch on the right needle

Gründl Wolle

→ since the stitches were knitted together, the decrease is slanted to the right
