My account name is derived from my nickname. My family already called me Frieda when I was young. The word Wollknäuel serves both as a surname for my little crochet gang and as a small signpost so people immediately know that it is about wool products.

The focus of my account is designing amigurumi crochet patterns. Most of them are animal companions. Every month, I surprise my followers with a new, sweet pattern and with regular giveaways.

My name is Nadine, I am 32 years old and I live in beautiful Brandenburg. I am the proud mother of a two-year-old daughter and happily married. In addition to my business, I earn my living as a service assistant at a Volkswagen dealership.

I gained my first crochet experience as a little girl. My great-grandmother knitted and crocheted passionately throughout her life. In 2015, I saw a small teddy bear on Pinterest that I absolutely wanted to have. So I got myself some yarn and a crochet hook and started. Since then, I have not put the crochet hook down. I have only been designing my own patterns since 2020.

I have always been a very creative person; my head is full of great ideas. I rarely need inspiration. If I do need it, I like to look at a few pictures of the respective animals on Google. I try to stay true to my style at all times in order to ensure recognisability.

My first idea was to design a ladybird for you. Since you already have a little beetle in the range, I had to rethink. The day before, I had been at the children's farm with my daughter. Among other things, we petted a really cute little goat there. I immediately had an image in my head and then simply turned that thought into reality.

I am someone who does not draw my ideas beforehand and does not make any other preparations either. I simply get the yarn I need for my new pattern. As soon as I start, I write everything down in a ring-bound notebook and hope that I will still understand it at the end.

Crocheting is like eating crisps: once you start, you cannot stop. (by me)

Cotton Quick uni is a very pleasant yarn. It is easy to work with and holds its shape wonderfully. It glides comfortably through the hands and has a beautiful sheen.

Just get started. I still ask myself today why I waited so long. I used to look at other people's work all the time and think: "Wow, that must be really complicated!" But it is not at all.

Sure, it is a lot of work - I can promise you that. And a little creativity is a prerequisite for a successful amigurumi. But once you are finished, you will not regret it. Promise.
