Instructions for the Women's Power Sock 2025

Gründl sock yarn with colour gradient - straight from the ball

What makes Gründl sock yarns with colour gradients special: the sock pattern comes straight from the ball. No complicated colour changes needed. Hard to believe, right? What first looks like a colourful sock yarn unfolds, like a butterfly from its cocoon, into a beautiful sock pattern. One ball is exactly enough for one pair of socks up to size 46. Whether socks with classic block stripes, mottled sections, ombré effects with beautifully coordinated colours or dotted heels - our pattern-forming sock yarns immediately catch the eye and put you in a good mood. In the Gründl sock range you will find many colourful qualities for your next favourite socks.

Which sock yarn suits which season?

Whether spring, summer, autumn or winter - you can of course wear hand-knitted socks in every season. For classic socks that fit into almost any shoe, we warmly recommend the finer 4-ply sock yarn. For warm and cosy moments in the winter months, thicker sock yarn - a 6-ply twisted thread - is ideal. Regardless of the number of plied threads, however, the material blend determines the basic properties of the socks.

Why does sock yarn contain polyamide?

Sock yarn should always contain a certain proportion of polyamide. Synthetic fibres optimise the yarn properties. And because we greatly value the precious hours and patience you put into your hand-knitted socks, we at Gründl have optimised the material composition of our sock yarn as well as possible. To make your socks last as long as possible, most Gründl Hot Socks sock yarns consist of 75% new wool and 25% polyamide. New wool absorbs moisture, is breathable and helps prevent unpleasant odours. Polyamide keeps your knitting dimensionally stable and hard-wearing. Thanks to the superwash finish, you can wash your knitted socks easily.

What makes sock yarn with cashmere or bamboo special?

Gründl Hot Socks Rubin consists of 50% wool, more precisely merino superwash, 25% viscose obtained from bamboo and 25% polyamide. The special feature of this composition is that the bamboo content can absorb a lot of moisture.
You will also find cashmere sock yarn in the Gründl range: the sock yarns Hot Socks Pearl color and Hot Socks Pearl uni impress with their extra-soft material blend. 75% wool (merino superwash), 20% polyamide and 5% cashmere make your socks wonderfully comfortable and pleasantly warm.
