Patching holes made easy: Step-by-step to a new work of art with snail stone

You do not need much to repair a hole... You need:

• A sewing needle or darning needle (the needle size depends on the fabric, just like the thickness of the yarn. It is always good to keep in mind that the intact fabric should be stressed as little as possible by the repair. That way the repair holds best. Fine fabric - fine needle and fine yarn. Coarse fabric - coarse needle and coarse yarn. Ideally, you should be able to pull the threaded needle through the fabric without force.)
• Yarn (sewing thread, embroidery thread or wool yarn can be suitable, depending on the fabric.)

Step 1: Cut the patches

Cut as many confetti dots as needed from the leftover fabric. Make sure they are large enough to cover your holes or stains. Around the hole, the patch should overlap by at least 4-6 mm. It is best not to cut them too small, otherwise it can become quite fiddly to hold the fabric piece in place.

Step 2: Outline the hole with running stitch

I like to outline the hole with running stitch so that it does not fray any further. With jersey this is not absolutely necessary, but I still find it helpful.

Step 3: Attach the patch with chain stitch

Place the patch over the hole and sew around it with chain stitch. This secures the fabric and gives the repair a decorative look at the same time.

Step 4: Secure the threads

Close the chain-stitch border and pull the thread end to the underside. Now you can knot the two thread ends together or, of course, weave them in.

All done!

I really, really like confetti dots as patches because the repair can be added to very easily, no matter how many more holes appear, and such a little dot is quickly attached.

Of course, you can also place the patches underneath the hole and create a beautiful effect that way. There are no limits to your imagination - many motifs and colour combinations are possible.
