Our social commitment
For many years we have supported many social projects and are committed to giving people living in precarious conditions a little bit of courage, confidence and a feeling of security.
Every year we design the green women's power sock, and this year Claudia from the knitting design team came up with an exciting pattern that is also a lot of fun to knit.
Ingolstadt food bank
Every week, around 1,500 people on low incomes are supported by the Ingolstadt food bank. With the active help of hundreds of volunteers, food is collected from nearby markets, prepared and distributed. We at Gründl made a woolly contribution for the cold winter months with knitwear worth €7,000. A total of 120 hats, 150 scarves, 80 loops and two pairs of gloves were donated. You can find the full article about the campaign online in Donaukurier Ingolstadt.
Donation to the self-defence project Stop Femicides in Mexico - Support Self Defense
In March 2021, another donation went to an international project, one that aims to empower women in Mexico. The rate of violence there is far too high, and every day 12 women are killed in Mexico City. With a self-defence programme, Molly Singer wants to encourage women to defend themselves and fight for their human rights .
Street children project JustOneTouch
In the Philippines, around 1.5 million street children live in precarious conditions. To survive, many of these children collect rubbish, beg for food or steal to make a living. We at Gründl are grateful that One Touch offers immense support for street children through a construction project for a children's home in the city of Cagayan de Oro on the southern island of Mindanao in the Philippines. This finally gives them the chance of a happier life and access to education. We at Gründl are incredibly grateful that projects like this exist and supported it with a financial donation.
Donations from our staff sale and wool bazaar
We donate and do good all year round. All proceeds from our staff sales are passed on to social projects. The proceeds from sample auctions, which take place once a year internally at Gründl, also go into our donation fund. These occasions show us that all Gründl employees place a special focus on social commitment. And we are incredibly proud of that.
For us at Gründl, social commitment means actively taking social responsibility, and it is part of the entrepreneurial thinking and actions of Martina, Peter and Sebastian.
Annual donations to the service organisation Soroptimist
Every year, we at Gründl present a large financial donation to Soroptimist Ingolstadt, part of one of the world's largest service organisations for working women with socio-political commitment. The donation supports many different local and national projects. Human rights, education for girls and women, peace, international understanding and responsible action are all causes supported by the organisation.
This year's donation went to Ahsante Sana, a project committed to educational security for girls in Tanzania. Many children there unfortunately have no access, or only difficult access, to books because they are very expensive. Our donation was used to buy laptops to counter this precarious situation and give them the opportunity to continue their education individually.

We would like to further support this campaign and will therefore donate for every green* sock yarn ordered from the Gründl online shop between February 4th and March 4th, 2025. 100% of the proceeds will go to the German Association for Gynecological Cancers (Verein für Gynäkologische Krebserkrankungen Deutschland e.V.).
