Christmas donations at Gründl

Christmas is the festival of love. A time for support, reflection, and gratitude. In this blog post, we'll take you along on our charitable fundraising marathon.
Christmas donations at Gründl

Every year we design the green women's power sock, and this year Claudia from the knitting design team came up with an exciting pattern that is also a lot of fun to knit.

Gründl autumn bazaar - a potpourri of handmade unique pieces

It starts at the beginning of November: time for our annual Gründl autumn bazaar. Here, knitted and crocheted one-of-a-kind pieces that were designed with lots of love during the past seasons by our knitwear design team are displayed and offered for sale to Gründl employees. From handmade clothing such as sweaters, cardigans and crochet tops to accessories such as scarves, knitted winter hats and triangular shawls, as well as home decor and accessories, the Gründl autumn bazaar offers a potpourri of colours, patterns and qualities. A heart-warming campaign that many employees use to buy Christmas gifts for their loved ones while donating to a good cause. All proceeds raised during the bazaar go 100 percent into Gründl's Christmas donation fund.

Yarns, wool and haberdashery for a good cause

Right next door is the Gründl staff sale. Many colourful balls of yarn are lovingly arranged side by side, waiting to be knitted and crocheted. From patterned Gründl sock yarn to light summer yarns and impressive effect qualities: as different as Gründl yarns may be, they all have one thing in common. The entire proceeds from November and December also go into the Gründl Christmas donation fund.
We are incredibly grateful for our committed and charitable Gründl team. Together, we can contribute to a wonderful donation amount. And once again we have proved that Gründl's social values are deeply rooted in all of us. We are proud of that.

Gründl knitting evenings: great things can happen together

And that is not all: next comes a very special event. As part of the service organisation Soroptimist International, donations are raised through shared handicraft work in a unique atmosphere. We are talking about the annual knitting evenings that Martina Gründl, a long-standing and committed member of the SI Club Ingolstadt, hosts privately.

Handicrafts with a mission: raising donations

A long table, enough wool for creative DIY projects and donations for a good cause. That is how the annual knitting evenings of the Gründl family take place. Committed and empowering women, most of whom are part of the SI service organisation, meet in small groups. The atmosphere is magical. Every single evening brings an incredible flair. Thanks not least to good music, delicious food and pleasant conversations, a relaxed mood develops. More than that, the creative projects made from Gründl wool create an almost meditative atmosphere. The room is filled with love, because everyone is pursuing the same goal: these events are intended to raise the highest possible amount of valuable donations, all of which flow into the Gründl donation fund.

The motto of the evening: donate, donate, donate

Two donation amounts are distinguished here. The amount generated for the Gründl yarns needed by all participants is passed on by Gründl directly to the Christmas donation. In addition, a donation box is available at the knitting evenings, inviting everyone to fill it generously.

Help for others

This year, more than €1,200 has already been raised over a total of two evenings. A considerable sum that can improve the living conditions of many people.

Where do the donations go?

The donation amount raised through our Christmas events, together with the proceeds from the staff sale in November and December and the Gründl autumn bazaar, goes exclusively to charitable projects. The exact distribution of these funds is handled by the SI service organisation, which receives a donation cheque each year for the full amount of the Gründl Christmas donation.
Soroptimist Ingolstadt is part of one of the world's largest service organisations of working women with socio-political commitment. Within this organisation, many different local and national projects are supported. The service organisation is actively committed to human rights, education for girls and women, peace, international understanding and responsible action.
Part of this year's donation will go, as it did last year, to Ahsante Sana, a project committed to girls' education in Tanzania. Many children there unfortunately have no access, or only difficult access, to books because they are very expensive. Our donation was used to buy laptops, giving them the opportunity for individual development.
At this point, we would like to thank Soroptimist International from the bottom of our hearts. We deeply appreciate how much passion and social commitment goes into helping people and children who have to live in precarious conditions.
And we are always amazed at how wool can connect people. Great things can be created through our Gründl yarns and the unique pieces knitted and crocheted from them. Handicrafts connect and can help support people. And we at Gründl believe that especially during the season of love, it is more important than ever to stand together, do good and be grateful. Spending Christmas Eve in warmth with loved ones is not something to take for granted. It is the small things we should keep reminding ourselves of. Gratitude is one of the keys to a happy life.
At this point, we would like to say THANK YOU. Many heartfelt thanks to everyone who made this year's Christmas campaign unforgettable and donated so generously. Together we are strong, and together we can achieve great things. That is exactly what we have proved together.

Join in now: design a pricking card and give joy

And you can contribute too. Until mid-December, a free pricking card is waiting for you with every order. What does that mean? A pricking card, kind words and lots of Christmas joy.
That is exactly what we achieve together with you and our Christmas postcards for pricking. Together, we can make a big difference.
The aim is to send the embroidered card together with kind words to a social institution, giving lonely people during the Christmas season the feeling that they matter and have not been forgotten. After all, Christmas is the season of love. You can read exactly how this campaign works in our blog article. The initiator of this wonderful campaign is the organisation Post mit Herz. We would be very happy if you became part of this valuable campaign and, together with us, brought joy to someone. Thank you very much.
We wish you all a restful and reflective Christmas and a fantastic start to the new year 2022. May all your wishes come true.

We would like to further support this campaign and will therefore donate for every green* sock yarn ordered from the Gründl online shop between February 4th and March 4th, 2025. 100% of the proceeds will go to the German Association for Gynecological Cancers (Verein für Gynäkologische Krebserkrankungen Deutschland e.V.).
