Wool activity evenings by Gründl – handicrafts for a good cause

Doing good together with wool – that is the motto of the Gründl wool activity evenings, which Martina Gründl organizes annually.
Wool activity evenings by Gründl – handicrafts for a good cause

Every year we design the green women's power sock, and this year Claudia from the knitting design team came up with an exciting pattern that is also a lot of fun to knit.

What is the aim of the donation evenings while crafting?

The goal is to be creative together while generating the highest possible donation amount for social organizations.

How do the Gruendl charity knitting evenings work?

Every single knitting evening is something very special. A group of dedicated people comes together by candlelight, with delicious food and good conversations, to knit, crochet, knot or craft while donating.

Many creative projects made from Gruendl wool create a magical, almost meditative atmosphere. The special feature: an experienced knitting designer from the Gruendl team supports participants from beginning to end and answers questions about handicrafts. Whether dropped stitches, changing yarn or decreases, she is there to help. So not only are donations collected diligently, participants also learn a great deal about wool and the varied world of handicrafts. In short: unforgettable moments with added value.

How exactly are the donations collected?

Before the Gruendl charity knitting evenings can begin, participants choose Gruendl yarns from a curated selection, along with a matching craft project.

Participants pay for these yarns, and Gruendl passes the entire proceeds on to one of the two donation funds. Donations are collected twice: first through the proceeds from the purchased yarns, which participants knit and crochet during the evenings, and then again during the charity events, where another donation box waits to be generously filled.

Will you join in? Host your own donation evening!

Handicrafts combined with donating bring joy. Not only because they can help many disadvantaged people, social institutions or animal welfare organizations, but also because you can spend a lovely time crafting with your loved ones. Why not try hosting a charitable wool evening yourself? You will find many free patterns for knitting, crochet and knotting, plus the matching yarn, at www.gruendl.com.

If you already donate through handicrafts or have supported social projects with wool, please let us know. We would be delighted to learn about your commitment.

Where are the donations going?

All proceeds from Gruendl fundraising campaigns, including the charity knitting evenings, go 100% to the service organization Soroptimist International, of which Martina Gruendl has been a long-standing and committed member. From there, this year's donations are passed on to Inuka e. V. and Tafel Ingolstadt e. V.

About SI Club Ingolstadt: SI Club Ingolstadt is committed to implementing the goals of SI International. As a "global voice for women", it supports women, mothers and children. The aim: improved living, education and working conditions, economic independence and protection from all forms of violence.

About Inuka e. V.: Inuka e. V. is committed to promoting education. Inuka, which means "stand up" in Swahili, symbolizes the path children take when they grow up in a supportive environment.
The association gives children and young people access to education by building schools, providing teaching materials and training teachers. A major current project is the construction of a kindergarten for Maasai children.

About Tafel Ingolstadt e. V.: Tafel Ingolstadt e. V. is a non-profit organization fully committed to people in need in Ingolstadt and the surrounding area. It works with 120 exclusively volunteer helpers.
The goal: supporting people in need while fighting food waste.

Together we are strong

At this point, we would once again like to warmly thank everyone who made these unforgettable evenings possible and supported us with their commitment and donations. We appreciate it anew every year. Only when we all contribute can great things happen.

More Gruendl fundraising campaigns

In our blog post "Christmas donations at Gruendl", you will find more information about our social commitment.

We would like to further support this campaign and will therefore donate for every green* sock yarn ordered from the Gründl online shop between February 4th and March 4th, 2025. 100% of the proceeds will go to the German Association for Gynecological Cancers (Verein für Gynäkologische Krebserkrankungen Deutschland e.V.).
