Knitting a scarf with fringes – here's how:

If you want to add fringes to your scarf for a finishing touch – we'll show you how to tie yarn fringes to it. A crochet hook will help make tying easier – but it's not a must.

How to make a fringe edge for scarves?

First, individual threads are cut. In our case, the fringes will be 25 cm long. Since we need to double the fringes for tying, we measure 50 cm. A bundle of 4 threads forms one fringe.

How do I thread fringes?

To have the nice side of the fringe knot on the front of the scarf, the fringes are attached to the back of the scarf. In our case, two stitches are skipped between each fringe. Now insert the hook into the frontmost stitch of the scarf at the same interval – making sure to catch both legs of the stitch. This increases the stability and longevity of the individual fringes.

Now, with your crochet hook, pull the bundle through the stitch by hooking the crochet hook in the middle of the fringes. The end of the fringe bundle is now threaded through the loop and draped evenly.
